About the group
The TOOL-kit research group was established in 2020 as an academic arena for employees working with languages throughout the entire university college. The group’s main objectives are based on the Norwegian National Centre for English and other Foreign Languages in Education’s mandate from the Ministry of Education and Research, as well as Østfold University College’s priority area Language in Learning. Our primary goal is to provide schools and kindergartens with increased expertise in order for them to interpret and operationalise the national curriculum and framework plan in relation to English and foreign language subjects. Through our activities, we also want to contribute as an advisor to national education authorities regarding English and foreign language subjects.
The TOOL-kit group researches various aspects of the national curriculum and the framework plan and the implementation of these. We are interested in how different parts of the national curriculum are operationalised in language subject classrooms – with or without the help of digital technology, how teachers perceive and interpret aspects of the curriculum, as well as the professional development of language teachers.
The group is open to all employees working with languages at Østfold University College who share an interest in the research field. The TOOL-kit research group places emphasis on multilingualism and collaboration across language subjects. Therefore, employees working with the Norwegian subject and who have an interest in this topic are also welcome to join the group. TOOL-kit may also collaborate with associated members from national educational authorities, e.g. the Ministry of Education and Research and the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training.
