IT Support (IT-vakt)

If you have technical questions or if something is wrong with your computer, you can contact the IT-vakt either by email, phone or at our helpdesk in the library. Remember to always bring with you the computer that does not work if you come to our helpdesk for help. IT Support (IT-vakt) can also help you remotely through remote control, for example if you are at home or if you can't leave your office.

Username and password

As a new employee, together with your PC, you will receive a letter with information about your username, e-mail address and telephone number. You need your username and password to connect to the wireless network, to log into your PC etc.

No employee get a username until they are registered in the pay and employment system SAP. If you suddenly loose access to your username, please contact your leader who will contact the HR department.

Before you can use e-mail and other services you need to activate multi-factor-authentication

PC and software

Employees are assigned a PC with standard software, power supply, a PC bag, and a headset for telephony, online meetings and online teaching when they start working at HiØ.
If you have an office you also get a monitor with a built-in docking station, a web camera, mouse and keyboard. If somethings missing, please contact IT Support (IT-vakt).

Remember to send an email to IT-vakt if you move to a new office and take some or all of the equipment with you. This helps us keep track of all our equipment.

Standard software on all employee PCs, in addition standard Windows 11 apps:

  • Office 365
  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Zoom and Zoom Outlook Plugin
  • Teams Adobe
  • Reader VLC
  • 7-Zip

If you need access to one or more administrative systems such as Public 360, FS, SAP Fagsystem, UNIT4 etc, your manager must "order" this access. If the system requires installation of special software on your computer, this software will be installed on your computer or available for installation in Software Center (in Norwegian) sometime during the first working day. Contact IT Support (IT-vakt) if something is missing.

Software can also be downloaded from Software Center. If you want to install something, please check Software Center first.

When you log on to your computer for the first time, there are certain settings that need to be set and programs that need to be started in order for your computer to work and for you to find what you need.

Connect the computer to the docking station in your office or to wired network at IT-vakt before you start. Then follow the Guide for setting up a new PC.

Saving documents and other data

OneDrive (a part of Microsoft Office 365) is used at HiØ as a primary cloud-saving service. You shall not save any work-related documents in other cloud services than OneDrive.

Your local hard disk (/C:-disk) is only meant for software and other system-files. If you save documents on your machine’s hard disk, they’re gone if it breaks or the computer gets stolen. There is no backup solution for local hard drives, but it is possible to set up automatic synchronization of Desktop, Documents and Pictures in OneDrive.

All employees have access to their own “home folder” (hjemmeområde) and a “collaboration folder” (fellesområde). The home folder is personal access only, and is connected to N: in Windows. The collaboration folder is accessible to most employees and is connected to K: in Windows.

HiØ ID card for employees

You need an ID card for employees to print, copy and scan on HiØ printers. You also need this card to get access to the building and some of the rooms and areas where access is restricted. Please contact Servicetorget to get your HiØ ID card.

Keys

All employees have a key to their office. Teachers also have a key to the classrooms. You sign a paper both when you receive and hand in keys. It is your manager who orders keys by email to Administrative Services (servicetorget@hiof.no or service-fred@hiof.no) well in advance of the first working day.

All employees have a profile at Østfold University College website. Send an email to IT Services (IT-vakt) if you cannot find your profile or if you do not have permission to edit it.
