The Password Service
The Password Service allows you to find your username, change your password and to set a password for new users.
The Password Service may be displayed in norwegian by default. You can change this to English by clicking the "English" button in the top right hand corner.
Change password
If you wish to change your password can you do this in the Password service.
When the password has been changed, it will take between 30 and 60 minutes before your password is updated across all our services.

Forgotten username
When your user account at HiØ is created, you will receive an SMS with your username.
If you have forgotten your username, or cannot find the message, you can use the password service to find your username.
Activation of new user
When you are registered as a new student or employee, you receive an SMS with your username.
Before you can use your account, you must set a password for the first time before the account is activated.
You can activate your account by setting a password in the Password Service. Use the link below and log in with an SMS code or ID-porten to get started.
After the password is set the first time, it will take approximately 1 hour before the account becomes active.
When the account is active, you must set up 2-factor before you can log in to our services.

Password requirements
The password service has a number of requirements for password strength. These are some of the most important points in summary.
- New password cannot be too similar to a password you have used before.
- New password cannot contain your name or username.
- If you use Apple products or have a keyboard layout other than Norwegian, it may be good to steer clear of national characters such as ÆØÅæøå in the password.
- Remember that you must find the character on all the keyboards you use.
- New password must have a certain length, this increases or decreases according to the strength of the rest of the password.
You can see if your password strength is approved using the password-strength-indicator that appears below the top password field when you set or change your password.
Periodic change of passwords
Well before the password expires, you will receive a reminder email.
If you do not change your password within the deadline, the account will be locked and you must then unlock it again in the Password Service.
- Students must change their password at least every three years
- Employees must change their passwords at least once a year.
2-factor authentication
To use e-mail and a number of other services, you must have 2-factor activated. This requires you to confirm with your mobile to log in.

How to sign in to our services
Login varies somewhat from service to service.
Most of our services use Microsoft login via Feide, some services also use Microsoft login directly.

After the final student diploma / grade transcript is sent from the student system, you no longer have an active user account. You have to use electronic ID, such as BankID, to log in to StudentWeb and check your exam results and your student status.
