Background
Alvstad's research spans over Translations Studies, Latin American literature, Children's Literature, Spanish and Travel Writing. She researches literary translation from textual textual, translator-oriented and societal perspectives.
Alvstad holds a PhD-degree in Spanish from the University of Gothenburg, 2003, with a dissertation on translation of children's literature in Argentina. Alvstad was Associate Professor at Linköping University in 2006. 2007-2014 she was Associate Professor in Spanish Language at the University of Oslo, Norway, and 2014-2018. Full Professor in Translation Studies at Stockholm University2018-2023. Alvstad joined Østfold University College in August 2021.
