Elle's music is often described as polystylistic, and alternates between being atonal, melodious, noise-based, collage-based and improvised. In addition to performing his own and historical works, Elle has premiered a number of compositions written specifically for his voice by composers such as: Jon Øivind Ness, (NO) Henrik Marstrander (NO / FIN) Jyrki Linjaama, (FIN) Knut Avenstroup Haugen, (NO) Svend Christiansen, (DK) Bjørn Sverre Kristensen, (NO).
