Staff mobility for training via Erasmus+

All HiØ employees can apply for Erasmus funding for short training stays at universities, companies and organizations in Europe. The stay must be approved by your manager and be useful and relevant to your work area.

Academic staff members who wish to teach abroad can apply for support for teaching mobility.

Prerequisites for a training stay

  • You can get support for training stays in Erasmus+ program countries.
  • The duration of the stay at the receiving institution must be a minimum of two days. You can get support for up to two additional travel days.
  • The maximum length is 60 days, and the daily grant rate is reduced after the 14th day. Stays beyond 1 working week (5 days) must be specifically justified. It is usual to apply for support for 3-5 working days, and normally you will not receive support for more than 5 days. This is to ensure that as many people as possible get the opportunity to make use of the offer.
  • Participation in conferences is not supported.
  • If you are traveling to an educational institution, it must have an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE).
  • It is not a requirement that HiØ has an Erasmus agreement with the institution you are traveling to.
  • First-time applicants are given priority if there are many applicants. Only one scholarship is awarded per employee per academic year (and subject to availability).

Examples of what you can get support for

  • Participation in "staff training week", "international week", "partner days" and the like
  • Job shadowing: administrative staff travel to a university to learn from colleagues' experiences and best practices
  • Seminars and workshops at educational institutions or other relevant organisations
  • Training in the lab (for academic staff and fellows)
  • Method courses and summer courses (for academic staff and scholarship holders)
  • Stay in a business for training or observation
  • Language course
  • Find training opportunities at

Grants

  • The grant is intended as a contribution to increase staff mobility at HiØ.
  • The grant will only cover part of the expenses associated with the stay. Your department/unit is expected to cover excess amounts.
  • See an overview of the grant rates.
  • The grant is transferred to your department/unit after the stay has been completed.

How to apply

A complete application consists of:

  1. The Mobility Agreement signed by the applicant, the applicant's immediate manager and the receiving institution is sent to international@hiof.no

Only complete Mobility Agreements will be considered.

Tips:

  • Be in contact early with the receiving institution.
  • Spend plenty of time on the Mobility Agreement. You will have to explain the content, length, purpose and expected results of the stay
  • Remember to inform the international coordinator at your faculty that you are applying. She/he will also be able to guide you during the application process.

Application Deadline

The applications are processed continuously. The processing time can be up to four weeks, so you must apply within that time if you want to be sure that you will be awarded support before departure. Applications submitted after the stay will not be granted.

Special Needs

Employees with special needs are encouraged to apply. Contact us for more information about the possibility of applying for extra funds to cover expenses associated with special needs if this applies to you.

Grant Agreement

If the stay qualifies for support, you will be sent a Grant Agreement. This must be signed and returned to international@hiof.no before departure.

During your stay

Ask the receiving institution to confirm the dates of your stay by signing the form Confirmation of Erasmus Staff Mobility for Training.

Upon Return

  1. Return Confirmation of Erasmus Staff Mobility for Training signed by the receiving institution and send it to international@hiof.no
  2. You pay for expenses in connection with the trip yourself, and then submit a regular travel bill to your own department/unit in the self-service portal, see instructions. Note that the grant is not intended to cover all expenses related to the stay. Should the travel expenses exceed the grant amount, your institute/unit must cover the excess amount.
  3. Submit an electronic Participant Report. You will be sent a link from Erasmus+.
  4. Write a short summary of your stay for publication on HiØ's website.

Green Travel

Employees who travel green can receive an additional grant. Contact the International Office if this is relevant.
