Requirements for admission
Academic requirement:
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent education of at least 180 ECTS credits.
Due to the curiosity and interest in the expanded field of arts on which the MA Performance is established, we are interested in applicants coming from a wide range of practices including, but not limited to, the fields of visual art, choreography, music, composition, directing, acting, performance art, street performance, art for social change, movement and dance.
Applicants without relevant bachelor's degree, but who can document other relevant education and/or practical training/work competence, may also apply for admission if their prior learning has been pre-approved. The pre-approval must be uploaded in the application.
The application is to be submitted in English and must contain:
- Project Proposal: include a written reflection on your current artistic practice and its context. Describe a possible area of artistic investigation for your MA research emerging from your current practice(s) and interests. Include artistic and ethical dilemmas or questions you want to investigate through performance during your studies, and their importance and/or relevance for the field.In this proposal, please mention why you wish to pursue a MA in Performance at NTA and what this programme would mean for your artistic development. (2-4 pages total.)
- Documentation of artistic work (portfolio) focusing on the last 5 years (Max 15 pages in A4 format.) Describe in each presented work: your role, the type of production, the content, the year and the context in which they were produced.
- Curriculum Vitae.
Please note that all applicants who meet the formal requirements listed above must also pass an entrance test.
Admission process
Admission is based on entrance test consisting of 3 phases that is assessed by a jury.
The local admissions committee is responsible for the final approval of the jury’s recommendation. Please find additional information about the entrance test here.

Criteria:

1. Demonstrates curiosity and a practical commitment to ongoing articstic practices, with an interest in modes of creative reflection. You should show an interest in relating your work to specific context, both in the arts field and beyond. A theoretical background is not required to apply. A sense of urgency in the work, creative risk or questiong beyond the boundaries of performance are encouraged. Relevant documentation of your practice is necessary.

2. You should also reveal how you might potentially expand and unfold your practice(s) as performance/through performance in your master research. The questions, situations and concerns you are interested in exploring should be specific, even if they are open speculations.

- Phase 3, Interview

The final stage of review concludes with the interviews, where you have the opportunity to describe your artistic inquiries, research objectives and interest in pursuing your practice in this study program to the admissions jury.

In the interview, you will have the opportunity to first present your reflections on the artistic practice and your motivation for the main research questions and investigations in the master program, as well as answer follow up questions related to the above.

Applicants who exhibit a strong potential for deep artistic investigation, ability to expand their own practice in performance, and work in complex collaboration with colleagues from a variety of disciplines are selected. In addition, applicants are also expected to demonstrate the ability to work independently, learning advanced project management through ongoing research.

- Admission Decision
- Admission decisions are sent out via e-mail and published in SøknadsWeb. If you receive an offer of admission, you must respond in SøknadsWeb to the offer within the deadline noted in your admission offer. Should you not respond within the deadline, the offer will then be given to another applicant.
- Tuition fees
