Requirements for admission
Requirements for Specialisation within Smart Energy Technology
The minimum requirements for admission are:
Relevant bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent education of at least 180 ECTS
For the profile choice with specialisation in Smart Energy Technology, relevant degrees must be within the fields of electrical engineering, energy technology, electric power systems, computer science, or equivalent.
To be admitted, the applicant must have an average grade value from the qualifying education of at least 25 (according to ECTS standards).
Essay
For the profile choice with specialisation in Smart Energy Technology, a short essay (max 400 words) where you describe with your own words the role and recent advancements of Distributed Energy Resources integration into Smart Grids
This essay will be subject to electronic plagiarism control.
Online entrance test:
Please note that all applicants who meet the formal requirements listed above must also pass an online entrance test.
English language requirement:
a) Passed the subject English at a Norwegian upper secondary school (140 hours) and been awarded an average grade of 3 or better, or
b) International English Language Test Service (IELTS), with a minimum overall band score of 6.0 (academic test), or
c) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) HiØ code 6240 with a minimum score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 80 (internet-based), or
d) Pearson PTE Academic test, with a minimum overall score of 58, or
e) Cambridge ESOL Examinations, First Certificate in English with a grade of B or better, Certificate in Advanced English or Certificate of Proficiency in English, or
f) Completed university degree in the subject English language or literature, or
g) Completed bachelor’s degree taught in English from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK, or the USA (the degree must have been physically taught in one of these countries), or

- All applicants must register their application on SøknadsWeb.

The first step in applying to Østfold University College is logging into SøknadsWeb. When you come to the login page, choose your preferred login method.

- Applicants must fill out all of the requested information. It is important that you make sure all provided information regarding your personal information is correct.
When you are satisfied that the information is correctly entered, click on ‘Next’.

- Select International master programs from the list and read carefully the information provided. Choose the study you wish to apply for from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the page.
- You can apply to one study program.
Click on ‘Next’ when you are finished.
- Documentation
- In order for the Admissions Office to process your application, applicants must upload all required documents in SøknadsWeb.
- You can upload your documents by clicking on ‘My Documents’ in the menu at the top of the page. This is where you can see what you have uploaded as well as upload new documents. Documents should be uploaded as soon as possible and no later than the documentation submission deadline. Documents sent in the mail or by e-mail will not be considered or returned.

- Admission decisions are sent out via e-mail and published in SøknadsWeb. If you receive an offer of admission, you must respond in SøknadsWeb to the offer within the deadline noted in your admission offer. Should you not respond within the deadline, the offer will then be given to another applicant.
- Tuition fees
- For international students with citizenship from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland must pay tuition fees to Østfold University Collage. Read more here
