All international students will be assigned a buddy before arriving at Østfold University College. You can read more about the buddy scheme at HiØ here. In order for your buddy to help you upon arrival in Halden or Fredrikstad, they will need to know when you will be coming. Buddies will contact the students they are assigned before the start of your studies and make arrangements to meet you and help you get settled into your student housing.
For students arriving on holidays or late in the night, a buddy may not be able to pick you up upon arrival. In these cases, your buddy will provide you with the information you need to get to your student housing on your own. We encourage students to plan their arrival for a time where it is possible to have help from your buddy.
It is important that you have a good dialogue with your buddy so that they are best able to assist you. Buddies will first contact you via email and then other arrangements for communication can be made between you and your buddy.
