Monday, August 12: Suddenly a student - what now? Digital introduction day.

 

Tuesday, August 13: Official opening day with the opening ceremony at Blå Grotte in Fredrikstad, followed by a welcome and opening day at the Fredrikstad campus. Link to program!

 

Wednesday, August 14 - Friday, August 16: Introduction and teaching. Check what applies to your study program in your schedule.

 

 

Curriculum

You can find the curriculum for each subject in the course description. You will find the subjects you will be taking in the fall of 2024 in your study model.

 

What will you learn?

During the first week, you will receive thorough information about Østfold University College in general and your study program in particular. Information about the structure, content, recommended literature, and assessment methods of the study program can also be found in the study plan. Take the time to read it to get an overview of what you will go through.

 

Norwegian language is your most important tool as a student!

Do you have a different mother tongue than Norwegian? To succeed in your studies, it is smart to work on Norwegian language skills and prepare for the subject language in your study program.

 

Adaptation in teaching and learning situations

Do you know that you have a need for adaptation before the semester begins?

 

Deadline to apply for adaptation in teaching:

 

  • Fall semester: September 1st.

 

  • Spring semester: January 15th.

Tuition fees for international students

Students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland who begin their studies in autumn 2024 should be prepared to pay tuition fees.

Visa-application and deposit

The offer letter you have received from our Admission office must be enclosed with your visa application (study permit). Please note that the letter is electronically signed and is sufficient to use in your visa application. The admission office does not send out hard copies of the letter. No stamp or signature is required. Please contact our Admission office if you have any questions regarding your offer of admission.

All questions regarding your visa application should be directed to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI)

For students wishing to use our deposit account, any questions about the deposit should be sent to: depositaccount@hiof.no.

Note that we have not set a deadline for the deposit, however please make sure you transfer the deposit as soon as possible. In return you will receive a confirmation of payment from us which you will need for your study permit application.

Housing

Please contact the Student Welfare Organisation in Østfold (SiØ) for information about housing

ICT-information

You will need access to a pc/mac and internet in order to join the online teaching. The university college will provide you with access to the basic software you will need for the course.

Please read the information on how to use online tools, such as Canvas (teaching platform), Zoom, and Office 365.
