Course description

The fast-track course in Norwegian is an offer to newly arrived refugees. 

The course is intended for participants who want to pursue higher education in Norway, and is structured to facilitate the progress from the beginner level of A1 to the advanced levels (B1 and possibly B2). B2-level meets the formal requirements for foreign students studying at Norwegian universities.

Participants must have good proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Please note that this course has no affiliation to Nav's introduction program.

Absolute requirements

Participants must have good proficiency in written and spoken English, as this will be the language of instruction. No prior knowledge of Norwegian is necessary.

Start date

The first lecture  takes place in week 38. Time and day of week will be updated shortly, the lectures will take place in the afternoon or evening.

Registration and admission

The registration period is between 7th and 28th of August 2024. When the registration opens you will find the link to the application form via this site. 

To be admitted, applicants must document that they are registered as refugees in Norway, with letter from The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) stating granted protection (asylum). If this documentation is not available at the time the application is handed in, this must be added by the deadline, 28th of August.

All newly arrived refugees can register for the course. In case there are more applicants than places, applications will  be prioritized according to date of arrival. 

Forms of teaching and learning

Participants will recieve a total of 120 hours of instruction over approximately 30 active weeks. There will be four hours of online lectures per week. In addition participants are expected to devote at least 10 hours per week to self-study.

To keep up with the course progression, attendance at most lectures is required. If a participant is absent for more than four consecutive weeks without giving notice, they may lose their spot in the course.

Examination

There are no exams in this course. Upon completion, participants are enchouraged to register for the Norwegian language test (Norskprøven) at their appropriate level in their place of residence. If they have not been assigned a place of residence, they should register at Trondheim voksenopplæring (Trondheim adult learning centre): https://www.trondheim.kommune.no/voksenopplaring/
