Completed minimum 2 years of tertiary education in business or economics, which is comparable with B&A education in Norway. Students must apply for enrollment to bachelor programme IBP by sending application with confirmed transcripts of credits to international office. Knowledge outcomes
Students should learn how to plan and organize research on chosen subject, what methodological approach should be applied and how the work should be divided, structured and completed

Skills
Writing a thesis should develop the students' skills to combine theoretical and empirical knowledge into a professional piece of work. It develops skills to transform previous knowledge in math, statistics, econometrics and other subjects into tools applied in research process. It gives valuable experience of dividing job and cooperating within a group and presenting the effects of the work in professional and attractive form.

General competence
Better in designing a project, organizing cooperative work and writing a scientific paper.

Innhold

The thesis is a group work of 2-3 students, on a topic connected with the core subjects of taught in business studies. The selected subject must be relevant for the study programme which students follow and have a certain degree of originality.

The thesis should count 30-40 pages, depending on subject, and the workload per person is estimated to ca 120h.

Undervisnings- og læringsformer

The students will be given an introduction to the formalities of writing a thesis such as reference systems, data collection, principles of academic writing etc. Each group is given a supervisor. Groups should set up an individual plan for tutoring and consultations with the supervisor. Details are given in «Guidelines for Bachelor's Thesis» for the 3rd year of the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with specialization in International Business.

Arbeidsomfang

The course will give the student approximately 280 hours of work.

Arbeidskrav - vilkår for å avlegge eksamen

  • Compulsory methodological instruction on academic writing, reference system, data access to library resources given partly in Autumn- and partly in Spring semester.
  • Groups should set up an individual plan for tutoring and consultations with the supervisor.
  • A minimum of four meetings between group and supervisor should be held. Details are given in "Guidelines for Bachelor's Thesis" for the 3rd year of International Business Programme at Østfold University College.
  • Thesis has to be approved by the supervisor to be handed in at the exam office for evaluation.

All coursework must be approved before signing up for the final exam.

Eksamen

The Bachelor's Thesis as a piece of group work. 
Grades: A-F.

The students have the right to complain on the grades given on the written examination.

If students appeal against the assessment of group examinations in which one joint mark is given, all the students who have been assessed as a group have to consent and sign the complaint. The result of the appeal applies to all members of the group.

Evaluering av emnet

To improve the course, we need the evaluations from the students. The course is evaluated by the students and the evaluations from the students are treated by the staff and the faculty's committee for quality of education.
