BA in Scenography: Additional information for applicants to Norwegian Theatre Academy


Regarding documentation requirements at Østfold Univeristy College:

  • Norwegian Theatre Academy has no formal English language requirement, even if the teaching language is English.
  • Norwegian Theatre Academy does not demand proof of funding when submitting applications. However, applicants from countries outside of the EU/EEA must submit proof of funding when applying for a study permit.


Regarding entrance exam at Norwegian Theatre Academy:

Phase 3

NTA BA in Scenography intake will happen through phase 1, phase 2 and the entrance exam in phase 3:

Phase 3, the entrance exam is conducted digitally over a three-day period, somewhere between April 26 and April 29 and it is organized as a workshop.

The applicants get tasks that they give their artistic response to in the shape of models, drawings and other scenographic expressions.

During the entrance exam the candidates will be assessed by an admission jury on their abilities to understand a task, to openly and critically reflect it, and to conceive and express a reply with precise visual, spatial means.

The entrance exam concludes with an individual interview aimed at understanding the applicant's artistic premise, references and motivation for applying to the study program. The applicants who are assessed to excel in these criteria will be offered admission to the academy.
