Investigates hidden and neglected cultural heritage

MATERIALS OF CONFLICT (created and led by Professor Serge von Arx from NTA) investigates hidden and neglected cultural heritage in 3 different and distinct places in Europe: the island Håøya in the Oslofjord nearby Oslo, in Nicosia and Famagusta in Cyprus and the site of Daugavgrīva Fortress in Riga. Aspects of past political and cultural frictions will be inquired scenographically to create heightened awareness relevant for future generations. Those scenographic inquiries will focus on the sensory perception of our surroundings where the audience, spectator or visitor is an inherent part of the artistic work. Students and artists will be invited to participate and will realize scenographic works on site.

Beyond these 3 international workshops, the Norwegian Theatre Academy will organize a symposium which will take place on 19 and 20 September 2019 in Oscarsborg and an international touring exhibition. More information will be soon released.
