A 2-day experiment proposed by the MA students from the Norwegian Theatre Academy / Østfold University College in Scenography and Performance.
During Oslo Internasjonale Teaterfestival 2020 MA students from Norwegian Theatre Academy invite everyone to participate in an experiment to unfold one of the oldest practices we know: The art of hospitality. By sharing matters and practices at the core of their research processes, the students will explore the following questions: How can we learn to listen to each other? What do we really mean by participation, embodiment and sharing space in art practices today? How do we share knowledge — who has access and who has not? The event will include performance actions, special guests, talks, collective experiments, light refreshments, and open discussions.
The students invite you to a welcoming space open to the complexity of diverse dialogues and languages. The common interest is in finding ways of proposing positive counteractions that invite polyphonic listening forms, challenging given power structures in the academia, arts and beyond. You are more than welcome to attend both days, one day or just spend a few hours.
Guest speakers:
Pernille Mercury Lindstad is a script writer, theatre director and artistic director of the cross-diciplinary platform Theater F which was established in Oslo in 2014. She works with projects located in between performing arts and visual arts, mostly taking place outside of the traditional theater stage. In the frame of RESONANCE.DISSONANCE she will talk about her work with text in relation to her dyslexia and how she has found positive ways to implement this challenge in her artistic work.
Ali Djabarry has been working in a multitude of roles in Norwegian theatre and performance field for the past 30 years, including Nordic Black Theatre, Ways of seeing (2019) and Verdens Teatret. He will present an extract of his latest production Ferdaminne Part III - Norway and discuss the idea of integration from a personal standpoint. He will be performing with his collaborator Ole Jørgen Løvås.
Liam Monzer Alzafari is Oslo based scenographer. He has a profound interest in public spaces and scenographical propositions that relate to the political, satirical, and associative approaches of the popular culture in the Middle East. Liam will speak about spatial set-ups that invite its audience to think, reflect, discuss and take part, through examples from his own practice.

Eva Jaunzemis. To Enter into Words with the Body, To Sing with Secrets Exposed: How does the body write itself and engage in its own (re)marking? The queer body, trans-gressive, dancing, making body, erotic body, in pain and in pleasure. A sharing of a performance practice situated in the in-between of body, skin, clothing, and voice through writing and action.

Liam will speak about his practice in relation to some of the seminar questions, presenting his way of thinking about scenography that facilitates opinionated views and positions, and set-ups that invite its audience to think, reflect, discuss and take part, through examples from his own practice.
