Information about the visiting artists:
1. Dance group from West Sumatera
This is a dance group coming from the province of West Sumatera of Indonesia. They will perform at least 3 dance performance, including the famous Tari Piring or Plate Dance, in which the artists will dance with dishes as one of the main accessories.
2. Saung Angklung Udjo from West Java
The Angklung itself is a musical instrument from West Java Indonesia, made of a varying number of bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame. The tubes are carved to have a resonant pitch when struck and are tuned to octaves, similar to Western handbells. The base of the frame is held in one hand, while the other hand shakes the instrument, causing a repeating note to sound. Saung Angklung Udjo is a cultural tourism destination and complete music education in West Java, in which Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU) own an arena show, bamboo craft center and workshop for bamboo musical instruments. SAU's main concerns is to preserve and develop the culture of Sunda – especially Angklung - to the public through education and training.
