Mari Pitkänen and Norwegian Theatre Academy invite you to:

ELO/HUK

Friday, November 25
Saturday, November 26
Sunday, November 27

15:30 at Huk beach, Oslo: https://shorturl.at/grL58
Duration: 90 minutes

Before existing, there is life. Is there anything else living than creatures?*

Elo is life that is not one and not many.
It is the dark water moved by air.
The darkness that is the place of birth.
Viability in itself.

What can be found in quietude? Temporary awakening of imagination that evaporates in the air. The tracing of the boundaries, diffracting into liminalities. What is the not-doing that is essential to our survival?

ELO/HUK is acoustic-somatic storytelling, collective meditation and audio graffiti. Gentle movement of stillness at the black beach by the dark water, from the sunset to the turning into the night. What happens to bodies in the meeting with dusk? A story.

The temperature is getting low at the end of November, and wind by the sea side can bring it down many degrees. Wear the warmest clothes you have, recommended ski pants, quilted jacket and wool layers under them. Don’t forget something to cover your head. You will be asked to lie or sit down for a while by the shore at Huk.

We have camping mattresses and sleeping bags for all audience members to help keep warm.

In 2022, the second class of graduating students from MA in Performance have presented or will present the final part of their master research work. ELO/HUK is the graduation performance of Mari Pitkänen. In her research she is exploring the affects of storytelling on bodies in the context of posthumanism. Co-performers and hosts are artists Ayana Ishihara, Nicolaj Wamberg, and Maria Wang Kvalheim. NTA’s study plan for the MA in Performance research project is organized as a series of public events happening during the second year of the course, organized in two phases, rather than a single final MA production. You are very welcome to experience the sixth and final phase 2 performance in Oslo in November.
