We are proud to present you the artistic explorations which the first year MA scenography students from Norwegian Theatre Academy at Østfold University College have developed in collaboration with Konservativen, Halden. The students inquired the history and future plannings of Norway’s oldest theatre building to engage its current state and reflect on imaginary future uses. The scenographic interventions seeking dialogue with the inhabitants of and guests to Halden are presented through this exhibition open to the public.

We understand scenography as the meeting and blending of architecture and theatre which can take any shape on stage, in exhibitions and in the public space. Scenography does not exist alone, it fundamentally establishes a dialogue with a topic and with an audience. Our hope is for the works to be part of an ongoing continuing dialogue on the shared future of Konservativen, and with all of you shaping the cultural landscape of Halden!
