A flying start to the final year of BlendVET

We invited teachers and school leaders from our partner schools Åssiden vgs. and Fagskolen i Viken to start the third and final year of BlendVET training and development.

Our Future Classroom Lab was ready and waiting for the new group of vocational teachers to discuss and explore the use of videos and podcasts in teaching and learning. The teachers came from a diverse range of vocational backgrounds, such as: health and welfare studies, hairdressing, catering and hospitality and media design.

After an initial introduction to the BlendVET project, the teachers were divided into small groups and asked to reflect on questions such as:

  • How can teachers spark curiosity or encourage engagement through the use of videos and podcasts?
  • How and why can videos and podcasts become relevant modalities in the context of vocational education?

After some very interesting discussions, it was time to get some hands-on experience with the video- and podcast equipment in the Future Classroom Lab. Each group was challenged to create an engaging video or podcast that could serve as an introduction to a vocational topic. You can see some of the activities portrayed in the video below.

As the workshop came to an end, the groups shared the content that they had created and we were all impressed by the variety and quality of content that had been created in such a small amount of time. We look forward to the next step of our collaboration and the sharing of many more experiments and experiences!
