Academic interests

My main research interests are: teachers’ professional knowledge; teacher education; teachers‘ professional values; knowledge in curricula for professional programs; and comparing and contextualizing.

Teaching experience

I have been a teacher in primary education and adult education for 15 years. In higher education I have been teaching the course Science of Education or (pedagogy) in the teacher education program for Differentiated Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education Programs fpr Years 1-7 and 5-10, since 2006. The programs has varied in content and structure over the years due to national curriculum changes, but I have taught all the different modules. Most academic years I have been course leader for at least one module, designing the teaching plans and serving as the primary contact person for our students.

I have also taught the course Multicultural Studies (60 ECT at the bachelor level) and the master program Multicultural and Inclusive Education. In the latter program, I have supervised master students.

After completing my doctoral work, I have been invited to teach courses at PhD level at various higher education institutions in Norway, including University of Oslo, OsloMet and University of South-Eastern Norway.  I have thought on the topics: Higher Education Policy Development; Political versus academic anchored policy making processes; Writing the extended abstract; Teachers’ Knowledge structures and professional identity; Comparison in Qualitative Research; Reflexivity and Quality in Research and Research Ethics
