Open lectures about Ukraine

Faculty of Teacher Education and Languages are excited to invite you all to two open lectures; Ukraine and the Ukrainians in the Time of War and Teacher Education in Ukraine: History, Modern Perspective, Opportunities, and Challenges.

Faculty of Teacher Education and Languages hosts a visit from Kharkiv National Pedagogical University in April. On 13th April the Faculty invites all staff members, students and members of local community to two lectures about Ukraine.

The lectures are open to all who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the complexities of the war in Ukraine and its impact on the Ukrainian people, and all who are interested in teacher education in Ukraine, its current state and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

We encourage students, scholars, and members of the community to attend and participate in the discussion.

About the lectures

Ukraine and the Ukrainians in the Time of War

Time: 13.00 – 14.00

The lecture will provide an overview of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which began on 24th February 2022 and has led to the displacement of millions and the loss of thousands of lives. The speaker will delve into the political, social, and economic factors that have contributed to the conflict, as well as the role of external actors.

The lecture will also explore the human toll of the war, including its impact on civilian populations, refugees, and internally displaced persons. The speaker will discuss the challenges faced by the Ukrainian people in the time of war and how they have adapted and persevered in the face of adversity.

Lecturer

The lecture will be delivered by Yirii Boichuk, Doctor of Sciences in Pedagogy, Full Professor, Correspondent Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Rector of H. S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University.

Teacher Education in Ukraine: History, Modern Perspective, Opportunities, and Challenges

Time: 14.15 – 15.30

The lecture will explore the evolution of teacher education in Ukraine, its current state and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. The lecture will include a historical perspective on the development of teacher education in Ukraine, the current state of the system, and an overview of the challenges and opportunities that face the system today.

The lecture will be of interest to students and faculty members of education, as well as anyone with an interest in the development of education system in Ukraine. The lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer session, where attendees will have the opportunity to engage with the speaker and explore further the issues raised during the lecture.

The lecture will be delivered by Ganna Krapivnyk, PhD in Philosophy, PhD in Philosophy in Philology, Associate Professor of English Philology Department H. S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University.
