What drives fashion start-ups to locate in the periphery?

Birgit Leick, Associate Professor in Business Economics, received a EURAM Research Grant for 2019-2020 and will look into the factors driving start-up businesses in the fashion industry to locate in the periphery.

The typical start-up company in the fashion industry is located in an urban hub. It seems to be puzzling, though, that so many entrepreneurs in this industry are founded outside these hubs. Birgit Leick, Associate Professor in Business Economics, will study this apparent puzzle in a new research project Contextualising regional entrepreneurship through innovation biographies: An embedded networks perspective on fashion start-ups in non-urban contexts.

The project is based on a research grant by the European Academy of Management (EURAM) for 2019 and 2020.
