The research aims at discovering the physical mechanisms behind the unexplained lights in Hessdalen, Norway. This is an interdisciplinary project involving researchers from several fields, including astrophysics, geophysics, and engineering. Students from Østfold University College conducts a 14 day long field research excursion in Hessdalen during September/October as a part of the course Field Research. The school pupils will be instructed in scientific methods and safety measures for field work in demanding conditions.

The pupils will be given lectures and supervision from international researchers, and be trained in utilization of instruments and data analysis.

The project lasts fo two years and involves more than 100 pupils and students.
