Hessdalen is a small valley south of Trondheim with about 140 inhabitants. Light of unknown origin have been observed in his valley for decades. The aim of the research project is to find the physical mechanism that causes these lights tp appear. Documentation of the phenomenon utilizing a combination of different techniques combined with measuring geological and atmospheric parameters can hopefully help us to find the solution to this question.
The involvement of the students in this research project helps us to increase the amount of collected research data. At the same time, the students have the opportunity to be involved in different aspects of the research. Our international cooperation partners are closely involved in the project, giving the students the opportunity to work in an international research environment with researchers from different fields.
The students are involved in the project through the course Field research.
The project is financed by Olav Thon Stiftelsen.
