New research projects granted

We started the New Year with great news, one more project proposal submitted last year at Energy Programme-Focus area: Renewable energy, Energy efficiency call, received 1.800.000 Euro funding from Innovation Norway; The project is financed by the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021. The Programme objective is “Less carbon intensive energy and increased security of supply”. The Programme seeks to stimulate and develop long-term cooperation between Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Romania and is encouraging bilateral project partnerships.

Our project is entitled: “Low emission with high and sustainable efficiency in Sfantu Gheorghe key public buildings” and is a collaborative project between partners from Norway and Romania; Østfold University College - HIOF, Norway, as project partner, will work together with two partners from Romania, the project promoter-Sfantu Gheorghe Municipality and Servelect SRL (energy auditor SME), for implementing the project in the next 2 years.

The project will design, develop and implement the deep renovation of two public buildings (a secondary-school and a gym with swimming pool), to significantly enhance indoor comfort, increasing the energy efficiency with 82% and improving the performance up to nZEB level and significantly reduce the GHG emissions with 78%.

HIOF team will be responsible for development of simulation models, algorithms and tools as well as for design and development of innovative solutions, including an optimal local coordination for a building energy management system (BEMS), based on AI and ML algorithms and tools that integrate several technologies depending on renewable energy sources (solar thermal collectors).

As dissemination activity, we will organize a workshop in Norway at our Faculty and a conference exhibition for target groups to promote the project objectives, solutions and measures which must be consider for energy efficiency increasing;
