Academic interests
Short Biography
I have a PhD in Social Work, as well as many years of practical social work experience with children and families. My interests include the experiences of children who have come into contact with the Norwegian Child Welfare Service, and my research has explored what it is that social workers do in families where they have succeeded in helping parents to develop their care skills. My PhD thesis is a study of how competence as a phenomenon has developed in the child welfare context over time, and what is currently considered necessary competence in this context. In addition, I`m involved in research which explores methods in relation to teaching practical Child Welfare work at bachelor degree level. I`m currently interested in researching how children´s use of social media may challenge social work practices.
