Academic interests

My research interests are within professions and professionalism, with a particular focus on knowledge, discretion, and ethical considerations in the performance of professional work. My Ph.d-project explored knowledge in use in expert clinical nursing.

Among the overall topics studied are the opportunities and challenges of increased standardisation and digitalisation in the organisation of health and welfare services. I am interested in how knowledge evolves in collaborative practices between professionals, patients and service-receivers, and in human interactions with technologies and tools. Furthermore, my research is concerned with subjective experience and embodied ways of knowing in multicultural, knowledge-intensive and technology-driven societal contexts.

In my research, I apply and explore various qualitative methods, with a particular focus on ethnographic and phenomenological approaches.
