Interreg Sweden-Norway 2021-2027 ProjectProject Name: Kontiki; AI-Based Decision Support for Patients and Healthcare Services

The objective of the project is to contribute to a better and more cost-effective, equitable healthcare service. This will be achieved through the development and utilization of digital solutions based on AI, specifically decision support.

Target audience includes patients/users, healthcare services, the academy, and the business sector.

The project builds upon a previous Interreg project, "Artificial Intelligence as Decision Support for Equitable Care." The project stands to benefit significantly from established contacts for cross-border collaboration and the outcomes of prior initiatives.

The current project is structured around several work packages with the goal of providing a comprehensive perspective on issues crucial for succeeding in the development and utilization of digital solutions. This notably includes AI-based decision support within regional and municipal healthcare services.

Activities are directed towards key focus areas where the project group has unique expertise, such as home care, priorities in ambulance operations and hospital diagnostics, as well as overarching system-critical functions like databases, synthetic practice data, regulatory and legal considerations, utilization of project results, and ethical approaches.

Expected outcomes include the establishment of collaboration structures between academia, regions, municipalities, and small to medium-sized businesses across borders, as well as structures for leveraging project results. There will also be the development and implementation of products for digital solutions, including AI-based decision support for regional and municipal healthcare services. Increased activity and competitiveness among small and medium-sized businesses involved in digitizing regional and municipal healthcare services through knowledge accessibility and the application of project results.

The approach involves collaboration between academia, regions, municipalities, and small to medium-sized businesses across borders.

Work packages are as follows:

AP 1 Project Management

AP 2 Prehospital Decision Support for Acute Illness — Trauma and Stroke

AP 3 Self-Monitoring

TP 4 Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

AP 5 AI Ethical and Legal Challenges

AP 6 Data Management, AI Algorithms, Interoperability, Synthetic Data, and Clinical Implementation
