Deadlines – before and after exams

This webpage will let you know which exam-related deadlines you need to meet as academic staff.

Register coursework requirement results two weeks before the exam

If there are partial exams in a course within the same semester, coursework requirements should normally be registered two weeks before the course’s first partial exam.

Authority:  Østfold University College’s Regulations § 6-1(2).

Results are registered by the responsible teacher, in Fagpersonweb.

You can read more on how to register course requirements here.

Exam papers and assessment guidelines must be ready two weeks before the exam

If the exam is in Inspera Assessment, responsible academic staff must prepare the exam question paper in Inspera.

If the exam is not in Inspera Assessment, please send the exam question paper per email to the Section for Examinations: eksamen-halden@hiof.no or eksamen-fred@hiof.no

Templates for exam question papers are available here.

Written assessment guidelines must be prepared for all exams at Østfold University College, this also applies to oral and practical exams (cf. Act relating to Universities and University Colleges § 3-9 (2)).

Templates for assessment guidelines are available here.

The deadlines for exam papers and assessment guidelines are mentioned in the Guidelines for examinations.

Frist for å sende oppgavesett og sensorveiledning til seksjon for eksamen er nevnt i  funksjonsbeskrivelse for emneansvarlig og i retningslinjer for gjennomføring av eksamen.

Register exam grades within three weeks

The deadline for registering exam grades is within three weeks after the exam date.

Oral or practical exam grades are registered as soon as the assessment is finalised.

Exam grades are registered in Inspera or in Fagpersonweb. Examiners will be informed of which system to use.

Authority: Act relating to Universities and University Colleges § 3-9(4) and Østfold University College’s Regulations § 7-1(3)

Explanations of grades within two weeks

Explanations of grades must be given within two weeks after a student’s request.

Explanations are given in Inspera or in Fagpersonweb, depending on which system the exam grades were registered in.

As a main rule, the external examiner gives the explanation.

In cases of internal grading, explanations are normally given by the course teacher/examiner or other academic staff.

Authority: Act relating to Universities and University Colleges § 5-3 and Østfold University College’s Regulations § 8-1.

Appeals; new grading within three weeks

The course teacher must provide two examiners for a reassessment.

Authority: Act relating to Universities and University Colleges § 5-3 and Østfold University College’s Regulations § 8-2.

Returning exam answers on paper as soon as explanations have been mediated

All graded paper-based exam answers must be handed back to the exam administration as soon as all explanations of grades have been mediated.

If a student appeals his/her grade, the exam administration must send the answers to new examiners for reassessment, and therefore needs to have the papers at hand.

Exam answers are kept for one year, after that they will be shredded.
