Explanation of grounds and appeals against grades

As a student, you have the right to an explanation of the grade you are awarded for an exam paper. You are also entitled to appeal the grade.

Appealing against grades

If you appeal against a grade, the exam paper will be sent to new examiners. The grade they agree on is final and cannot be appealed against. The grade can be adjusted up or down or remain the same.

Deadline for appealing against a grade: within three weeks after the announcement of the grade.

Explanation for the grade

Before you decide to appeal against an exam result, you should request an explanation of the grade so that you can assess whether it is relevant for you to request a new assessment.

Deadline for requesting an explanation: within a week after the grade has been announced.

If you request an explanation, the deadline for appealing against the grade is 15 days after receiving the explanation. You can request an explanation on Studentweb. You can also request an explanation after you have received the result of an appeal against a grade.

Formal errors during the exam

If you notice an error in the question paper or experience something during the exam that you believe has prevented you from completing the exam under the adequate conditions, you can appeal against formal errors.

Deadline for appealing against formal errors: within three weeks after the exam date.

Appeals against formal errors are processed and decided by the university college’s Appeals Board.
