Content
Students can choose from topics related to societal issues, culture, literature, didactics, or linguistic aspects in German-speaking countries. They will work on an assignment under the guidance of an instructor. The assignment's topic will be determined through further discussion. The topic should be presented, and the work summarized throughout the process, as detailed under "Required Coursework."
Forms of teaching and learning
Independent work under supervision. Library resources and other resources should be actively utilized. It is planned for students to act as respondents for each other during the course of their work, as outlined further in the required coursework section.
Workload
Approximately. 280 hours.
Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam
- Required coursework 1: Presentation of chosen topic
- Required coursework 2: A brief summary of the work in progress and feedback on two of the other students' summaries
Required courseworks must be met by the specified deadlines and must be approved before the student can submit the final work. Course requirements are completed on the university's learning platform.
Required coursework must be approved for the student to be eligible for the exam.
Examination
Individual semester assignment
Assessment is based on an individual semester assignment. The assignment is a written document (text document with 1 ½ line spacing). The assignment should include approximately 3000 words, including footnotes and a bibliography. Any illustrations are in addition.
It should contain citations and a correct notation system. The assessment takes into account the level of knowledge, information gathering, independence, and ability to formulate arguments. The assignment must be submitted by the specified deadline. Individual guidance is provided during the process.
Grading scale A-F.
Examiners
External and internal examiner or two internal examiners.
Conditions for resit/rescheduled exams
In case of a failed grade, the assignment can be revised once. To improve the grade, a new assignment must be submitted.
