The teaching highlights some key developments in Spanish-language literature and multimodal forms of expression. Students acquire knowledge of literary history, literary theory, literary genres, and multimodal text types in connection with the study of a selection of texts in various genres and media. They develop their skills in analyzing and contextualizing literary works (such as novels and short stories) and multimodal texts (such as picture books, comics, graphic novels, and videos) by contributing their own insights for group discussion, which are linked to relevant academic literature. Students are also given the opportunity to delve deeper into certain themes and works/texts independently.

Forms of teaching and learning

The teaching is conducted online and in Spanish. Students can attend real-time lectures, discuss academic literature, and collaborate on interpretation and analysis tasks using digital tools. Participation in the teaching is not mandatory, but it is highly advantageous to attend regularly. It is assumed that students work independently with the texts related to the subject and familiarize themselves with the course material posted on the Canvas learning platform. Students are encouraged to use digital tools to discuss academic questions. It is expected that students contribute actively, including to enhance their oral and written expression skills, communication, and presentation abilities.
