Recommended requirements

Prior knowledge equivalent to French level II from upper secondary school is highly recommended.

  • Bachelor's Programme in Languages with French as one of their chosen languages: 1st or 3rd semester (autumn)
  • Bachelor's Programme in International Communication: 5th semester (autumn)

Knowledge

The student

  • has knowledge of a pragmatic approach to oral language, as well as familiarity with key language structures in French
  • has knowledge of French pronunciation (sound, rhythm, and intonation)
  • has knowledge of daily life, central traditions, customs, and ways of thinking in French-speaking countries

The student

  • can comprehend oral and written authentic texts in various genres and media
  • can communicate and use the language fluently at a normal pace, employing a broad vocabulary in French
  • can apply rules for French pronunciation (sound, rhythm, and intonation) to be understood in communication with others
  • can participate in prepared and spontaneous conversations on various topics
  • can use digital resources in an adapted learning situation

 

General Competence

  • can use various learning resources and utilize them effectively for personal learning
  • can locate relevant material with the help of ICT

Content

This is a course where oral communication and pronunciation are central. Through various tailored activities, students receive training in using and understanding spoken French. Students also receive a practical and theoretical introduction to French pronunciation.

Forms of teaching and learning

The teaching and guidance are provided in online meetings through digital collaboration tools. The university college's learning platform is used for distributing foundational documents, central study materials, assignments, and other relevant information about the subject. Self-study is included in the learning methods.

Workload

Approx. 280 hours

Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam

Four individual oral assignments must be submitted by the specified deadline.

Required coursework must be approved before the student is eligible to take the exam.

Examination

Individual oral examination

Duration approximately 30 minutes. No aids allowed. Grading scale A - F.

The oral examination is conducted online via the learning platform

Examiners

External and internal examiner or two internal examiners.
