The course builds on Norwegian for foreigners I or equivalent.

Spring.

The student has basic knowledge of written Norwegian.

The student is able to read and write basic Norwegian texts.

The student has general knowledge of the Norwegian society.

  • Facts about Norway.

  • School, family life and traditions.

  • Living arrangements.

  • Celebration and feasts.

  • Health, job and leisure

Forms of teaching and learning

52 h language instruction. The language of instruction is English and Norwegian.

Workload

The course will give the student approximately 250-270 hours of work.

Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam

A short text must be submitted during the semester.

The coursework must be approved before signing up for the final exam.

Examination

A 4-hour written individual examination.

Permitted aids: a printed dictionary. The students have to choose from:

Mother tongue-Norwegian-Mother tongue,

Mother tongue-English-Mother tongue or

English-Norwegian-English

Grades: A-F.

Examiners

External and internal examiner or two internal examiners.

Course evaluation

Student evaluation of teaching will be carried out in the middle and at the end of the semester.
