The course is connected to the following study programs

Optional part of the German extension module (altogether 90 ECTS credits) that is an optional module in the bachelor programme Society, Language and Culture in either 4th or 6th semester, or 4th semester when studied as part of the extension module.

Prerequisites

One-year programme in German or one-year programme plus 30 ECTS extension, or the equivalent knowledge of German.

Content

Didactics: This part is organised as a practical seminar discussing approaches to teaching and various ideas. If some of the students are teachers, the sharing of experiences will be invited.

ICT: This part is mainly practical; examples of ICT used in language learning are used as the basis for theoretical discussions and practical tasks.

Language proficiency: practising writing German texts primarily means using blogs as process and reflection tools. Oral communication is also an important aspect of the course and of the possibilities offered by ICT.

Forms of teaching and learning

The course has three parts: Language proficiency (oral and written), didactics of German, and ICT. The teaching is organised as block seminars and webbased teaching.

Examination

Assessment is based on three components:

  • a) project work in didactics/ICT (individual or in groups)
  • b) two oral texts (digital sound files) submitted at given deadlines
  • c) oral examination of approx. 25-30 minutes. The candidates present a topic from didactics of German (approx. 8 minutes), after which they are examined in the components of the course, among other thing oral language proficiency.

One mark is given for all components, using the A-F grading scale.
