Content

The oral part comprises negotiation strategies and technique, literature reading and discussions. Skills are trained through various exercises and case studies. The written part includes business texts such as reports, e-mail, memos, CVs and cover letters for applications. There is considerable focus on using apt communication strategies as well as relevant structures, conventions and terminology.

Forms of teaching and learning

Lectures and group work. The course is taught in English.

Practical training/internship

None.

Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam

  • One negotiation practice
  • Two written assignments to be submitted within given deadlines and, in revised form, as contributions to a portfolio that is to be submitted with the term paper.
  • A minimum of 80% attendance is required for the oral part of the course. For exemption to be granted from this requirement, a written application must be submitted stating the reasons for failure of attendance.

The coursework must be submitted and approved within the given deadlines for the student to be allowed to take the final examination.

Examination

Individual term paper (12-15 pages) and an oral examination of approx. 40 minutes. The oral examination may adjust the final mark one step up or down on the grading scale A-F. Both the term paper and the oral examination must be approved in order to be given a final mark. No aids are permitted at the examination.
