The course is part of the German extension module (altogether 90 ECTS credits) that is an optional module in the bachelor programme Society, Language and Culture (3rd or 5th semester).

Obligatory in the extension module in German (3rd semester).

Prerequisites

The one-year German programme, or equivalent knowledge of German.

Content

The interaction between literature, culture and society plays the central role in the course, in which students are expected to problematise and reflect on the characteristics of the individual work as well as general aspects.  Other artistic expressions will also be discussed in addition to literary texts.

Seminars and projects.

Practical training/internship

None.

Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam

Two written assignments in the course of the semester, each of approx. 4 text pages and possible additional illustrations.

The coursework must be approved before signing up for the examination.

Examination

Oral examination with presentation.

Presentation:

The candidates give a presentation of approx. 12 minutes on a topic from the course reading, chosen by the candidate and approved by the course instructor. The candidate’s ability to present in an independent way is central to the assessment.

Examination:

The candidates are examined in the topic ‘Berlin’ based on the course reading. Content as well as reflection, problematisation, presentation and language are assessed.

 

A joint mark is given for both components using the A-F grading scale.
