Obligatory in the one-year programme in French / French in the education programme (1st and 2nd semesters).
Obligatory in the degree programme International Communication when French is chosen as the second foreign language (5th and 6th semesters).
Optional course in the degree programme Society, Language and Culture (either 1st and 2nd semesters, 3rd and 4th semesters, or 5th and 6th semesters).
Prerequisites
None, but basic knowledge of the language is recommended.
Lecture Semester
Autumn 2008Content
Autumn semester: France and the EU, France and international relations, French institutions, culture and society.
Spring semester: French economy (agriculture, industry, energy policy, high technology, environment) and French history in recent times.
Forms of teaching and learning
The instruction and tutorials are primarily based on the use of ICT tools, enabling individual facilitation. Weekly electronic tasks are given with weekly exercise seminars as follow-up. Teaching is in French.
Practical training/internship
None.
Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam
- Active participation in exercise seminars
- Four written assignments in the course of the two semesters
Students enrolled on distance learning fulfil their coursework requirements electronically.
All coursework must be submitted and approved before the final examination.
Examination
Individual oral examination of approx. 30 minutes at the end of the spring semester. Grading scale: A-F.
