The course is connected to the following study programs

Compulsory for bachelor students enrolled in the International Business Programme and for students in the business administration programme spescialising in international business.
Optional for students on other study programmes/bachelor programmes.

Prerequisites

The course builds on introduction courses in economics and finance, claims good computer literacy

Foundation courses in economics and finance and computer literacy.

Content

• Overview of the financial system
• Understanding financial markets - the money markets, bond marke, FOREX
• Financial institutions: the banking sector and non-banking sector 
• Why and how the financial system is regulated and controlled
• The financial crises and its consequences in economy

Forms of teaching and learning

Lectures, group presentations and discussions. Teaching and learning is basically group centered with established groups. There are scheduled compulsory tutorials and classes, apart from selv-initiated consultations and self-initiated cooperation.

Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam

Group presentation and its paper version must be submitted and approved before signing up for the final examination.

Examination

A 4-hour individual written examination. Aids allowed: a mother tongue - English/English - mother tongue dictionary. Grades: A - F.
