Content

Grammar: Basic knowledge of the German language system.

Written proficiency: Norwegian and German are contrasted on a practical level, with great focus on practising basic standard-language grammar, in particular morphology and syntax, and on achieving a functional usage.

Forms of teaching and learning

Exercise seminars, requiring active student contribution and participation.

Practical training/internship

None.

Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam

Two brief group assignments based on the use of for instance wiki technology. The assignments must be approved before a student may take the final examination.

Examination

A 4-hour written examination assessed on the A-F grading scale.

The candidates are examined in grammar and written proficiency. Several tasks are given in the grammar part and the candidates are expected to account for their required grammar reading. In the written proficiency part the candidates are given a short translation of an unknown source text from Norwegian into German and are further asked to comment upon certain contrastive phenomena.
