Knowledge
The student understands:
- central theories and concepts in the media and communication field
- methods and techniques for designing digital media content
Skills
The student is capable of:
- designing and prototyping content for selected digital media
- using media and communication theory in the design and development of digital media content
General competence
The student has developed the competence required to work on dissemination of information using digital media, independently and in a team.
Content
The course is divided into the following main topics:
- Media and communication theory
- Methods and techniques for media design
- Design and prototyping of:
- Interactive visualisation
- Web documentary
- Mobile application
Forms of teaching and learning
Lectures, supervision, lab exercises, project work and report writing.
If students from international partners attend courses, the lectures will be conducted in English.
Workload
4 hours lectures per week, lab exercises and supervision.
Examination
Group portfolio exam
Portfolio exam comprising of 3 assignments. The assignments must be submitted by given deadlines and in accordance with specifications issued by the course instructor. A grade will be awarded on the basis of an overall assessment. The same grade will be awarded to the whole group.
Grades scale from A to F is used.
Any resit or rescheduled examinations will have to be taken in connection with the next ordinary course examination.
Course evaluation
This course is evaluated as follows:
- Mid-semester evaluation (optional)
- Final evaluation (compulsory)
The course instructor prepares a course report on the basis of student feedback and on his/her own experiences of the course. Course reports are discussed with the Committee for Study Quality at the Faculty of Computer Sciences.
