Knowledge:

On completion of the course, the student is capable of:

  • carrying out small information and knowledge dissemination projects
  • considering how useful different types of information technologies are for communication and use

Skills:

On completion of the course, the student is capable of:

  • working independently on exploring and developing information technology
  • using methods to study ethical, communicative and user-related aspects of information technology under development
  • explaining suitable methods for digital information dissemination

General competence:


On completion of the course, the student:

  • is familiar with some features of the development of information technology and has a good understanding of the ethical, communicative and user-related aspects of such technology

Content

  • designing, prototyping, planning and carrying out a small number of projects on digital information dissemination
  • oral presentation and justification of chosen methods and implementation

Forms of teaching and learning

Individual work in studio under the supervision of at least one supervisor for every 10 students.

Coursework requirements - conditions for taking the exam

At least 85% attendance.

Coursework requirements must be approved before students may sit the exam.

Examination

Online portfolio assessment:

The portfolio is designed as a website and consists of three projects. Each project assignment must be passed in order for the course to be passed.

Individual project 1 counts 30%.

Individual project 2 counts 30%.

Individual project 3 counts 40%.

An overall individual final grade is awarded based on a letter grading scale A?F.

In the case of resit or rescheduled examinations, the content of the portfolio must be agreed with the course instructor. Any resit and rescheduled examinations are organised in connection with the next ordinary examination.

Course evaluation

This course is evaluated as follows:

  • Mid-semester evaluation (optional)
  • Final evaluation (compulsory)

The course instructor prepares a course report on the basis of student feedback and on his/her own experiences of the course. Course reports are discussed with the Committee for Study Quality at the Faculty of Computer Sciences.
