Prerequisites

Students must earn a minimum of 90 ECTS credits before they may start the course.

Lecture Semester

Semester 5 (autumn)

Total workload:

A minimum of 250 hours. This includes preliminary work, reporting, presentation and other necessary work in connection with the course.

The student's learning outcomes after completing the course

Knowledge

The students have knowledge of the industry in which they have worked and of the specific topics related to the work.

Skills

The students:

  • have received practical training in analyzing issues that are relevant for the business/industry
  • can prepare a work plan and resolve assigned tasks
  • can write a final report documenting the project/work assignment and time use

General competence

The students:

  • have gained work experience and knowledge of the corporate culture in the industry in which they worked
  • can reflect on their own knowledge and learning and on their role in cooperating with others

Content

The students must work on a project/work assignment in a company. The content is defined by each company and student together with an internal supervisor from HiØ.
The students must write a report and give a presentation of the project

Forms of teaching and learning

Work that is normally performed individually but that in exceptional cases and subject to application can be performed in groups.
Supervision will be given by the company's supervisor and a supervisor appointed by HiØ.

Examination

Project/work assignment

Grades are awarded on the basis of an overall assessment of the presentation of the project/work assignment, outcome and written report, and of the feedback from the company.

Grades are awarded individually on the basis of pass or fail.

Students must undertake a new project/work assignment in the case of resit exams.

Course evaluation

This course is evaluated as follows:

  • Mid-semester evaluation (optional)
  • Final evaluation (compulsory)

The course instructor prepares a course report on the basis of student feedback and on his/her own experiences of the course. Course reports are discussed with the Committee for Study Quality  at the Faculty of Computer Sciences.
