Content

The purpose of the course Product Development is to make the students acquire knowledge about different product development methods and apply this knowledge in the development of a finished product. In addition, the students must have thorough knowledge of conditions influencing the launching of a product. In this subject product development will be defined from the standpoint of a learning perspective. This means that the core of product development involves creating good cooperation bamong participants, technology and knowledge.

Forms of teaching and learning

The subject will be organized so that lectures are combined with guidance, practical project work in groups and with individual study.

The subject will be carried out by combining lectures and guidance, practical project work in groups and self study. Group work is the main work form in the subject. The teaching will be in English whenever necessary. The work form requires a great degree of independence from the students, and it is practical project pedagogy (POPP) that is the inspiration for the pedagogical platform used in the subject. In addition, a problem based introduction is used to the project work for the students. It is therefore a prerequisite that they use as a point of departure real problem areas in their project work.

Examination

Portfolio assessment

The student will be assessed on the basis of the material handed in. Up to 5 assignments will be given in the course during the course. These will be related to the students' implementation of a product development project and the handing in of project reports. At the assessment of the student's achievement, weight is put on hand-ins of assignments and projects with project reports. The students' entire achievement and hand-ins in the subject will ultimately be evaluated through an oral presentation of project and project result. Originality, creativity, the ability for independent and critical thinking are aspects that can also be of importance at the assessment of the students' entire achievement in the subject.

There will be no separate re-sit in the subject.

The marks given are A to F.
