Student Housing

The Foundation for Student Life (SiØ) offers new and modern residence halls in Fredrikstad and Halden and are a short walk or bike ride from the two campuses.

All students admitted to degree programmes or exchange programmes may apply for housing.

Housing contract

If you receive an offer of accommodation, SiØ will send you a tenancy contract. Download, print and sign the contract, then scan it and return it to SiØ.

Please note that the signed tenancy contract is legally binding for either a single semester (1 August – 31 December / 1 January – 30 June), or for the complete academic year (1 August – 30 June).

Housing guarantee

Exchange students and other international students are guaranteed student housing provided they are taking part in an exchange programme/agreement or an international study programme at Østfold University College. You can only apply for housing after you have received your admission letter and apply within the given deadline.

You are only guaranteed housing if you return the signed tenancy contract and pay the deposit within the deadline. If you for some reasons are not able to start your studies, you will get the deposit back.

What to bring

All rooms are furnished with a bed, desk, chair and closet. The kitchen is fully equipped. SiØ also offers sets containing a duvet, pillow, bed linen and a towel that you can buy and keep. SIØ will place one of these sets in all the international students’ rooms so you must let them know if you do not want to purchase one.

You will need to bring the following:

  • Personal items and clothes
  • Towels
  • An internet cable (RJ45) (to gain access to the internet until you are given a username and password for the Wi-Fi)
