Summary: In this picture book, we get to know the famous American female jazz musician, Mary Lou Williams. Her professional career started at the age of twelve; one year later, she played with Duke Ellington, and before she turned twenty, she had her own band. Mary Lou Williams composed and arranged hundreds of songs. The picture book tells her story in a few sentences, and the book can be used as a motivator for students to find out more about jazz music and this American music legend. The book also provides the reader with biographic notes about Mary Lou Williams.
