Summary: This is the story about Gerald the giraffe who wants to go to the yearly Jungle Dance, but he is not good at dancing, because his neck is long and slim and his legs are rather thin. All the other animals are so good at dancing, but when it is Gerald’s turn, they all start laughing at him shouting ”Giraffes can’t dance, you silly fool, oh Gerald, don’t be daft.” He leaves the dancefloor, but as he starts walking home me meets a cricket who says: “Sometimes, when you are different, you just need a different song.” The cricket picks up his violin and tells Gerald to listen to the swaying grass and the branches in the breeze. Gerald slowly starts dancing, and to the other animals’ great surprise, he proves to be the best dancer. The book is beautifully illustrated.
