Summary: “Once there was a tree …and she loved a little boy.”  This is the story about a tree and all it can give to human beings. The little boy comes to the tree every day to eat its apples, swing from its branches and sleep in its shade. As the boy grows older, he wants more and more from the tree, and when he is an old man, only the stump is left, but still the tree has something to offer. Together, text and illustrations emphasize the message of the book.
