Summary: This book tells the story of a quick-witted mouse who goes for a walk in the deep dark wood. Mouse faces a fox, a snake and an owl who all want to eat him. But Mouse is smart and scares off the animals by telling them about a scaring monster of his imagination, a Gruffalo whose favourite food is roasted fox, scrambled snake and owl ice cream. Suddenly, Mouse faces a real Gruffalo who says “You’ll taste good on a slice of bread!”. Mouse thinks quickly and declares himself as the scariest creature in the wood and asks Gruffalo to follow him to witness that this is true.
