Requirements for admission into the PhD programme
Financing for the programme
To be admitted to the PhD programme you must be able to document that you have funding for the entire fellowship period. This may be done through becoming employed as a research fellow at Østfold University College or at another institution, through another form of employment or in the form of project funding.
Applicants with employment at other institutions can apply for admission to our programme.
Documentation of funding must be attached in the application.
PhD positions are regularly listed along with the university college's other vacant positions.
Master's degree
For admission into the PhD programme, the applicant must normally have a masters education consisting of 120 ECTS credits with a grade B or better on the master's thesis, based on the Norwegian grading system.
The institution may, after special assessment, approve another equivalent education as a basis for admission.
Project proposal of high quality and relevance
Admission will also be based on an assessment of the quality of the project proposal and the thematic relevance to the PhD programme Digitalisation and Society.
The project proposal must have an academic account of the project and include a progress plan for the project. This must follow the guidelines described here.
Application process
Admission applications are assessed on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Applications for admission must be submitted digitally. Please contact PhD advisor Liv E. Simensen to get access to the application form (livesi@hiof.no).
The PhD programme committee constitutes the academic leadership of the PhD programme and is thus the body that makes the admission decisions.

- Documentation of funding for the entire fellowship period
- Diploma and transcript(s) of grades for qualifying education (master's and bachelor's degrees)
